- Potatoes - peel and chop the potatoes into large chunks. You can use any variety of potato that are suitable for mashing (such as Sebago, Desiree, Nicola or Russet).
- Milk - full cream milk is recommended (not skim or light). Alternatively, you can use cream for an even creamier result.
- Butter - salted or unsalted butter can be used.
- Salt & pepper - to season.

- Thermomix machine - any model (TM31, TM5 and TM6)
Step By Step Instructions

Step 1 - Peel & Chop The Potatoes
Peel the potatoes and chop into chunks.
Place into the Thermomix along with the milk.
Step 2 - Cook The Potatoes
Cook for 25 minutes (see recipe below).
Ensure the MC is on during the cooking time.
TIP: At this stage, check the softness of the potatoes. If they're not completely soft, cook for a further few minutes (cooking time will depend on the variety of potatoes used and how large they've been chopped).
Step 3 - Mash The Potatoes
Season with salt and pepper.
Add the butter.
Mix until just combined.
TIP: Do NOT over-mix the potatoes as they will turn 'gluey'.
Serve immediately.

Thermomix Mashed Potato
Ingredients
- 1000 g potatoes peeled and chopped
- 250 g milk full cream
- 50 g butter
- salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Place the peeled and chopped potatoes into the Thermomix bowl.
- Add the milk to the bowl.
- Cook for 25 minutes, 100 degrees, Speed 1 (with the MC on). At this stage, check the potatoes, they should be very soft. If they're still slightly firm, cook for a few more minutes (the potatoes need to be completely soft to ensure lump-free mashed potato).
- Add the butter, salt and pepper. Mix for 5 seconds, Speed 3. Scrape down the sides of the bowl and mix for a further 5 seconds, Speed 3. Do NOT over-mix or the mashed potatoes will end up 'gluey'.
