    This classic Japanese Slipper cocktail is made with equal parts Midori, Cointreau and lemon juice, shaken with ice and served with a Maraschino cherry.

    A bright and fruity cocktail, ready to drink in just 2 minutes... all you need is a cocktail shaker!

    This eye catching Japanese slipper cocktail is sure to impress! Sweet and sour, it is the perfect summer drink, whether sipping by the pool at cocktail hour, over the Christmas season (those colours are so festive!), or for a girls night in.

    Served in martini glasses, this elegant cocktail is SO easy to make!

    What You Need

    This Midori cocktail is made with just 5 ingredients that are all easy to find in a liqueur store and supermarket.

    • Midori liqueur - this Japanese liqueur is a sweet melon-flavoured liqueur which is a vivid green colour.
    • Cointreau liqueur - if you don't have Cointreau you can substitute with another brand of orange liqueur.
    • Lemon juice - freshly squeezed lemon juice is best.
    • Ice cubes - for shaking.
    • Maraschino cherries - to serve.

    Equipment Required

    You don't need any fancy equipment to make this cocktail, just:

    • Cocktail shaker or Thermomix.
    • 2 Martini glasses.

    Step By Step Instructions

    Step 1 - Fill The Cocktail Shaker With Ice

    Fill a cocktail shaker with ice cubes. 

    Step 2 - Add The Cocktail Ingredients

    Pour the Midori, Cointreau and lemon juice over the ice. 

    Shake for 45 seconds or until the cocktail shaker is very cold.

    Step 3 - Serve

    Place a maraschino cherry into the base of 2 martini glasses. 

    Pour the cocktail into the glasses and serve immediately.

    Expert Tips

    • Serve cold - this cocktail is best served icy cold.
    • Making more than 2 servings - this is an easy cocktail to double as it requires equal quantities of Midori, Cointreau and lemon juice.
    • Garnish ideas - the maraschino cherry is a classic serving idea, but you could also serve it with a slice of lemon, or even a slice of melon, instead.

    Ingredients

    • 90 ml (90g) Midori liqueur
    • 90 ml (90g) Cointreau liqueur
    • 90 ml (90g) lemon juice
    • ice cubes for shaking
    • 2 Maraschino cherries to serve
    Prevent your screen from going dark

    Instructions

    • Fill a cocktail shaker with ice cubes.
      If using a Thermomix: Add 150g ice cubes to the Thermomix bowl.
    • Pour the Midori, Cointreau and lemon juice onto the ice.
    • Shake for 45 seconds or until the cocktail shaker is very cold.
      If using a Thermomix: Mix for 30 seconds, Speed 4.
    • Place a maraschino cherry into the base of 2 martini glasses.
      Pour the cocktail into the glasses and serve immediately.
