Perfect for your next party, Christmas gathering or celebration!

Why You're Going To Love This Cocktail

There's so much to love about this fun-new take on a classic cocktail!

    • Just like a tequila sunrise... but with vodka! - we've all heard of a classic tequila sunrise - but not everyone likes tequila, right!? This vodka version is just as simple - yet doesn't have the strong tequila flavour!
    • Ready in 2 minutes - simply pour straight into glasses and drink! It couldn't be any easier or quicker to make vodka sunrises.
    • Just 3 ingredients required - all you need is vodka, orange juice and grenadine.. that's it!
    • No equipment required - absolutely NO equipment is required to make this vodka sunrise cocktail recipe... not even a cocktail shaker. Simply prepare the cocktail directly in the serving glasses.
    • The perfect summer cocktail - tropical, sweet, light and delicious... just add a beach holiday or a lazy day by the pool.

    What You Need

There's only 3 vodka sunrise ingredients - so easy!

Note: Scroll to the recipe card at the bottom for the ingredients quantities and full detailed method.

The three ingredients for a vodka sunrise cocktail.
    • Vodka - choose any brand of vodka you like (such as Smirnoff)
    • Orange juice - for best results, choose a pulp-free orange juice.
    • Grenadine - a vibrant red non-alcoholic cherry and pomegranate syrup. This can be purchased from any major liquor store.

You'll also need ice cubes and orange slices (to garnish).

    Equipment Required

Absolutely no equipment at all is required to make this to make this Vodka Sunrise recipe.

All you will need is glasses for serving (any are fine).

    Step By Step Instructions

Making your own Vodka Sunrise cocktail at home really is as easy as 1.2.3...!

Note: Scroll to the recipe card at the bottom for the ingredients quantities and full detailed method.

Step 1 - Fill The Glasses With Ice Cubes

Step 2 - Add The Vodka

Measure the vodka into the serving glasses.

Add an orange slice to the rim of each glass to decorate (optional).

Vodka and ice in a glass.

Step 3 - Add The Orange Juice & Grenadine

Pour the orange juice into the glass.

Just before serving, add a dash of grenadine and watch the 'sunrise' appear!

    Expert Tips

    • Because this cocktail is chilled with ice cubes, it's best served immediately (before they melt!!)
    • For best results, use pulp free orange juice.
    • Add a dash of grenadine to the cocktails just before serving and watch the 'sunrise' appear!
    • Do NOT stir the cocktail as the grenadine will turn the entire drink pink and the 'sunrise' effect will disappear.

    FAQ's

Is a vodka sunrise the same as a tequila sunrise?

Yes - the only difference is that vodka is used instead of tequila!

What is grenadine and where can you buy it?

Grenadine is a bright red non-alcoholic syrup that gives a red/pink tint when added to drinks. It is usually made from pomegranate and cherry juices. In a vodka sunrise, the grenadine sinks to the bottom of the glass while the orange juice remains on top - giving the illusion of a sunrise.

Is a vodka sunrise the same as a vodka sunset?

Yes - the names are used interchangeably.
