A chilled cocktail garnished with a slice of lime and fresh mint leaves.

This classic Hugo Spritz elderflower cocktail recipe is the most refreshing drink, made with 3 parts Prosecco, 2 parts elderflower liqueur and 1 part soda water.

Ready to drink in 2 minutes, this easy cocktail is one you will be enjoying all summer long!

A glass of Hugo spritz cocktail garnished with fresh mint leaves and a slice of lime.

Hugo Spritz is a slightly sweet, sparkling wine cocktail that is SO refreshing!

Just like my simple limoncello spritz, vodka sunrise, cheeky pornstar martini or creamy midori cocktail full of tropical flavours, this elderflower cocktail takes just minutes to prepare.

Whether it's for a girls night in, a summer party, or Christmas celebrations, this Hugo spritz cocktail is always popular. Serve with cheese crackers and homemade guacamole to nibble on, and celebrate summer with your friends and family.

    • Ready to drink in 2 minutes - simply pour, stir and serve!
    • 3 ingredients - all you need to make a Hugo cocktail is elderflower liqueur, Prosecco and soda water...that is it!
    • Perfect for Christmas or summer parties - the recipe can easily be scaled up to make more to serve to guests, whether you have a small group of close friends, or a large gathering to cater for.
    • No fancy equipment needed - absolutely NO fancy equipment is required to make a Hugo spritz, you don't even need a cocktail shaker, just a spoon to stir the cocktail ingredients!

    What You Need

You need just 3 ingredients to make this light elderflower spritz.

Note: Scroll to the recipe card at the bottom for the ingredients quantities and full detailed method.

    • Elderflower liqueur - this sweet French liqueur is bursting with elderflower flavour. I like to use St Germain elderflower liqueur but you can use any brand you prefer.
    • Prosecco - this Italian sparkling wine can be substituted with any other sparkling champagne such as cava, or champagne.
    • Soda water - also known as club soda. You can use sparkling water if you prefer, although soda water is slightly fizzier than sparkling water.
    • Fresh mint leaves and lime slices - to garnish (optional).
The ingredients needed to make the cocktail recipe.

    Expert Tips

    • To double / triple the recipe - to make more cocktails could not be easier, just use this ratio: 3 parts prosecco, 2 parts elderflower liqueur and 1 part soda water.
    • Use chilled prosecco and chilled soda water for the most refreshing Hugo Spritz.
    • Add ice cubes to the glass to keep the cocktail cool (optional).
