- plain flour - use plain (all-purpose) flour for this brownie recipe.
- cocoa powder - cocoa powder is what I use, but you can use cacao powder instead.
- brown sugar - gives the soft textures in the brownie. You can use either light or dark brown sugar.
- butter - salted or unsalted butter is fine to use.
- milk - I use regular full fat milk, but any type of whole milk will work for this recipe.
- optional- cream or ice cream is optional for serving, but highly recommended.
Step By Step Instructions
This easy microwave chocolate brownies recipe is just so easy!

Step 1 - Sift Dry Ingredients
First, sift all the dry ingredients together in a bowl.
Step 2 - Combine
Next, combine the liquid ingredients with the dry mix.
Step 3 - Transfer The Batter
Transfer the brownie batter to individual ramekins.
Step 4 - Microwave
Microwave for 30 seconds, check, then for further 30 second bursts until set.
Step 5 - Serve
Allow to cool. Serve right cream, ice cream, nuts, or caramel sauce.
Expert Tips
You can use cocoa or cacao powder as a base and fold in chocolate nibs or chips to make it a little extra rich.
You can bake all kinds of things in the microwave! I like to bake cakes and make fudge in the microwave.
If you manage to have any leftovers, then store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
To freeze these microwave chocolate brownies, simply place into airtight containers and freeze for up to three months. Allow to thaw overnight in the refrigerator when ready to enjoy again.

60 Second Microwave Chocolate Brownies
Ingredients
- 75 g (½ cup) plain flour
- 25 g (¼ cup) cocoa powder
- 80 g (½ cup) brown sugar
- 75 g melted butter
- 125 ml (½ cup) milk
- cream or ice-cream to serve, optional
Instructions
- Sift the plain, cocoa powder and brown sugar into a bowl.
- Add the melted butter and milk. Mix together.
- Divide the mixture between three microwave-safe ramekins.
- Place them one at a time into the microwave.
- Cook for 1 minute on 70% power (800 watts), checking after each 30 second burst.
- Take out of the microwave and top with cream or a scoop of ice-cream.
- Repeat with the remaining two ramekins.
