Substitutes For Arnott's Tim Tams
Tim Tams are an iconic Australian cookie made by Arnott's. If you are unable to buy them, you can substitute them with any other white chocolate coated cookie. For something a little different, you could use Oreos in place of the Tim Tams (this will give you a beautifully dense chocolatey flavour).
How To Make Cheesecake Balls
It couldn't be easier to make our Baileys Tim Tam Cheesecake Balls....
Crush white chocolate Tim Tams until they resemble fine crumbs.
Mix Tim Tam crumbs with the cream cheese and Baileys Irish Cream liqueur. Place into the freezer to harden.
Roll into balls and place back into the freezer.
Coat the balls in melted chocolate and refrigerate.
More Cheesecake Ball Recipes
Once you've made these cheeky little boozy balls, you're going to want to make them again and again... or you could mix it up with one of these yummy recipes:
Absolutely! I generally use Philadelphia (Philly) full fat cream cheese but you can use any brand you like.
I can't buy Tim Tams where I live! What can I substitute them for?
You can substitute them with any other white chocolate coated cookie. Or for a rich chocolate flavour, you could use chocolate Oreos.
Do I need to chill the mixture first?
Yes, once you've prepared the mixture, chill it in the freezer (or fridge) for 30 minutes. This will allow it to harden enough to roll into balls. The heat from your hands will make the balls sticky when you roll them, so it's important to place the rolled balls back into the freezer (or fridge) for a further 30 minutes before dipping them in the melted chocolate.
Can I leave the Baileys out or substitute it?
Yes! You can omit it entirely or you can substitute it for a different liqueur (such as Kahlua).
How long will Baileys Tim Tam Cheesecake Balls last?
The balls can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days (although they'll never last that long!).
Can I use sweetened condensed milk instead of cream cheese?
Our delicious and boozy 4 ingredient Baileys Tim Tam Cheesecake Balls are the perfect late night dessert! Made from cream cheese, crushed cookies, Baileys Irish cream liqueur and dipped in melted chocolate.... you wont be able to stop at one!
Crush white chocolate Tim Tams until they resemble fine crumbs.
Mix Tim Tam crumbs with the cream cheese and shot of Baileys Irish Cream liqueur. Place into the freezer (or fridge) for 30 minutes or until hardened.
Roll the mixture into 1 inch sized balls and place on a tray lined with baking paper back into the freezer (or fridge) for a further 30 minutes.
Place white chocolate in microwaveable bowl and microwave on 50% power for 2-3 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds, until chocolate is completely melted.
Place the balls into the bowl of melted chocolate (in batches) and use two teaspoons to roll the balls around until they are completely coated. Remove balls with the teaspoons and allow any excess chocolate to drip off.
Place back onto the baking paper lined tray. Place into the fridge to set for 1 hour.
Drizzle with melted milk chocolate if desired.
Thermomix Method
Place white chocolate Tim Tams into the TM bowl and crush on Turbo until they resemble fine crumbs.
Add the cream cheese and Baileys Irish Cream liqueur and mix on Reverse Speed 2 until well combined (scraping down the sides of the bowl occasionally). Place into the freezer for 30 minutes or until the mixture has hardened.
Roll the mixture into 1 inch sized balls and place on a tray lined with baking paper and place back into the freezer for a further 30 minutes.
Place white chocolate into a clean TM bowl and melt on 50 degrees, Speed 3, 2-3 minutes, scraping the sides occasionally. Pour the melted chocolate into a small bowl.
Place the balls into the bowl of melted chocolate (in batches) and use two teaspoons to roll the balls around until they are completely coated. Remove balls and allow any excess chocolate to drip off.
Place back onto the baking paper lined tray and into the fridge for 1 hour.
Drizzle with extra melted milk chocolate if desired.
Notes
RECIPE NOTESTim Tam substitutes - Tim Tams are an Australian cookie made by Arnott's. If you are unable to buy them, you can substitute them with any other white chocolate coated cookie. For something a little different, you could use Oreos in place of the Tim Tams (this will give you a beautifully dense chocolatey flavour).Adults-only dessert - this recipe is made using Baileys Irish cream and therefore contains alcohol. Cream cheese - I recommend using full fat cream cheese for this recipe. I generally use Philly (Philadelphia brand) but you can use any brand you like. Chilling the mixture - once you’ve prepared the mixture, chill it in the freezer (or fridge) for 30 minutes. This will allow it to harden enough to roll into balls. The heat from your hands will make the balls sticky when you roll them, so it’s important to place the rolled balls back into the freezer (or fridge) for a further 30 minutes before dipping them in the melted chocolate. Baileys substitutes - you can substitute the Baileys Irish cream for a different alcohol such as Kahlua. Or for a non-alchohlic version, you could replace the Baileys with coffee, or omit the liquid entirely.Storing the cheesecake balls - store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days.
Hi Barb, Tim Tams are a very famous Australian chocolate covered cookie. You can use any chocolate covered cookie you like though - it doesn't have to be that particular brand.
Is there a recipe to make your own tim tams? Don't know where to find them in the USA. And I love to bake, cook, grill, candy make. I'm from GA, USA but am now in KY, USA, (Bourbon country). I love to make my own bourbon balls and bourbon truffles. These sound wonderful. Thanks
Would kit kats be similar?? From the us and these sound perfect i have heard of tim tams but forgotten what they are similar too in the united states...
Bake Play Smilesays
Hmm I'm not sure of how these would go with Kit Kats. I'm not sure if the texture would be hard enough to hold them together. Possibly!!! But I would probably use oreos instead to be on the safe side. xx

I would love to try these but having a hard time finding ''white'' choco.Tim Tams. You say to use Oreos, do you mean the vanilla ones?
Bake Play Smilesays
The vanilla ones would be perfect 🙂
Lisa McOwensays
So white chocolate covered oreos would work? I tried to find the white chocolate Tim Tam's but haven't been able to. I found some milk chocolate covered Tim Tams. I'm dying to make these, just need the cookies!
Bake Play Smilesays
Yep either of those will be fine! xx
Catherine Aldridgesays
I have made these with Mint Slice biscuits and coloured the white chocolate pale green and drizzled them with white choc. Makes them minty and extra Xmasy.

I found some chocolate Tim Tams here in the US (NY) at Target.
Hi Sue, We do the majority of our recipes in grams as they are more accurate and they are also suitable to the Thermomix. Feel free to use an online converter to help change the measurements. 🙂
Does anyone know the american way to make these without grams but real measurements that some of us can understand? I would love to make these
for a party I'm attending on Friday. Thank you

You can use any online converter which will help you to convert to any measurements you like 🙂

You might want to see if you have a Store called Trader Joes Or A store called World Market, they mey carry the tim tams. or just use oreos. would probably work well.
Oh you've never tried Tim Tams? Oh God, don't try them coz they are highly addictive! We love them here in Australia! So many different flavours to choose from.
Yummy
OMG YUM!!!! If you're going to freeze them, I would do so before you coat them in the chocolate. Not frozen they'll last in the fridge for about 5 days (depending on the use by date of your cream cheese of course!). Oooh the Caramel Baileys would be delicious!!
I'm an Aussie in Brisbane, Queensland and made these with Oreos (ha ha!) yesterday to takeover to a friend. My only problem was the humidity here in summer trying to dip the balls in the melted chocolate I had a mess everywhere! However they looked and tasted yummy!

These look too easy and delicious! If you were making them for someone who doesn't drink alcohol what could I substitute the Baileys with?
Bake Play Smile says
Anything! You could just do them as a white chocolate ball, add crushed up peppermint, Milo... anything! They're so versatile!
Sophia Bouldas says
Milo you can probably use Baileys Creamers, there is no alcohol in it & you will have the baileys flavor.
