    It's no secret how much I love a salted caramel recipe, like my salted caramel sauce, salted caramel mud cake, salted caramel cheesecake slice. (I've even put all of my favourite salted caramel treats together in one place!)

    This caramel protein ball recipe has all the same delicious sweet and salty flavor of my other recipes, but with a healthy twist!

    Made with just 4 easy ingredients, these easy energy bites taste just like a decadent dessert, but are good for you!

    These caramel protein balls are made with medjool dates, giving them a delicious, caramel-like flavor, but with only healthy ingredients and no added sugar!

    This protein bliss balls recipe is mixed in a Thermomix, food processor, or blender, so it only take about 5 minutes to make!

    What You Need

    • medjool dates - be sure to use medjool dates since they have a soft, chewy texture and give these protein balls a caramel-like flavor. If you can't buy medjool dates, soak dried pitted dates in boiling water for 15 minutes before using.
    • rolled oats - use rolled oats instead of instant or steel-cut oats for the best results
    • desiccated coconut - if you can't find desiccated coconut in the stores, you can make you own
    • salt - this counteracts the sweetness of the dates and gives these protein balls the ultimate salted caramel flavour.

    How To Make Caramel Protein Balls with Just 4 Ingredients

    Step 1 - Mix The Ingredients

    Add all ingredients to your Thermomix, food processor, or blender. Blitz or blend them until they resemble small crumbs.

    Step 2 - Roll Into Balls

    Take large teaspoonfuls of the mixture and roll into balls.

    Step 3 - Chill

    Store the bliss balls in an airtight container in the fridge or freeze until needed.

    Where do I buy medjool dates?

    Medjool dates can be bought from all major supermarkets. If you can't buy medjool dates for your protein balls, you can use dried pitted dates, however, you'll need to soak them in water for 15 minutes before using and may also need to add a little water to the mixture when blitzing.

    How can I store my protein balls with dates?

    Store in the fridge for up to 5 days or in an airtight container in the freezer for up to 2 months. 

    What do I do if my protein balls aren't shaping into balls easily?

    If your mixture is not easily rolling into balls, add a little water to the mixture and blitz again until it comes together easily. 

    Can I make these protein balls in my Thermomix?

    Absolutely! This recipe can be made using a food processor, blender or Thermomix.

    Ingredients

    • 200 g pitted medjool dates
    • ⅔ cup (65g) rolled oats
    • ⅓ cup (35g) desiccated coconut
    • good pinch of salt

    Instructions

    • Add all ingredients into a blender or Thermomix.
      If using a blender, blitz until all ingredients are finely chopped and the mixture comes together (it will resemble small crumbs).
      If using a Thermomix, press Turbo until the mixture is finely chopped and comes together (it will resemble small crumbs).
    • Take large teaspoonfuls of the mixture and roll into balls (see notes). 
    • Store in the fridge for up to 5 days or in an airtight container in the freezer for up to 2 months.

          Thank you so much! This is one recipe I've come across where the measurements give me the consistency I've wanted! I'm sensitive to nuts, so this is SO amazing! I added a TBS of maca powder for that extra caramel flavour and next time I'll be less conservative with the salt. Thank you again!
