How To Freeze Lemons
Freezing lemons is a great way to avoid waste... and ensure that you always have lemons on hand when you need them.
Tips For Freezing Lemons
- To freeze lemons whole (with the skin on), give them a good wash and them dry them off. Place them into a sealable plastic bag and remove as much air as possible before sealing.
- To freeze lemons with the zest removed, wrap the lemons in foil and then proceed as per the instructions above.
- You can freeze lemon juice in ice-cube trays.
- Defrost lemons by placing on the kitchen bench and slowly allowing them to come to room temperature. Alternatively, place the sealed bag into a sink or bowl of warm water and allow to defrost (in about 15 minutes).

Just found your blog today and have printed a gazzillion recipes. Just curious as we have a lemon and a lime tree but our lemons are duds and I am all about the lime. Do you think most of these recipes can be substituted with limes instead?

Oh thanks so much Ellie. That's so great to know! Yep absolutely - you can definitely substitute lemons for limes in most cases. The flavour will obviously be a bit different, but still yummy!!

I love everything lemon flavoured too. We've got our own tree that produces super sized lemons (lemon butter in the the Thermomix is a good one to try too). I'm going to try out your lemon and white chocolate truffles first. Yum.
