The BEST ever Healthy 'Nutella' Protein Balls made with just 3 ingredients... dates, hazelnuts & cocoa powder!
We all know that the best way to eat Nutella is straight out of the jar with a spoon, right!? ABSOLUTELY!!! But... there comes a time in every girl's life when she needs to STEP AWAY from the Nutella jar. It's so good, but soooooo naughty! Which brings me to these totally guilt-free treats...
These 3 ingredient (yes you read that right... only 3 ingredients!!!!) healthy 'Nutella' Protein Balls are made from medjool dates, skinless hazelnuts and cocoa powder. That's it!!! Brilliant, right!? They have that same delicious chocolate/hazelnut flavour as Nutella but without all the naughtiness.
You can make these bliss balls in a Thermomix or a conventional blender - either will work absolutely fine! The trick is to blitz the mixture until it resembles fine, sticky crumbs and then roll into balls. If your dates are a bit drier you might need to add a teensy bit of water to the mixture to help bring it together.
You can store these 'Nutella' Protein Balls in the fridge for up to 5 days. I actually prefer to store them in the freezer (in an airtight container for up to 2 months) - that way you can just grab one out when you need and it will be ready to eat within a few minutes. Easy peasy!
Protein balls really are the perfect non-naughty treat. They taste so darn good and you totally get to give yourself a high-five for making such a delicious little snack. PS. Why is it called Nutella Bliss balls when the Nutella seems to be missing.
Cheers

Lucy
Hi Helen, they're called 'Nutella' balls as they taste like Nutella (but healthy!).

Hi! Would carob work as a substitute for the cacao powder? My LO needs to eat hazelnuts regularly to keep allergies at bay but I've heard cacao isn't great for small kiddos
Lucy Mathieson
Hi Stephanie, I'm not sure to be honest! I've made these with cocoa powder as well as cacao powder - but never carob. I'd love to hear how it goes if you do try it!
