Cook the apples in a sauce pan with  water and sugar. Drain and discard any excess liquid and place the stewed apples into a greased baking dish.

Cream together with butter and sugar. Add in the vanilla and eggs one a time, beating in between.

Add in the flour and milk and beat on low until fully combined.

Instructions

Spread the sponge mixture over the top of the stewed apples and bake for 30 minutes or until golden and cooked through.
