Healthy Falafel Burgers

These quick and easy baked Healthy Falafel Burgers are super healthy and totally delish served with tabbouleh! They’re healthy and they taste great!

I’m a huge fan of falafels. I remember eating my very first falafel at Melbourne Central shopping centre. Back then it was called Daimaru and the huge clock was like the coolest thing ever! Anyway, I was on Year 10 work experience at a law firm in the city and was feeling very grown up in my new shiny shoes and clothes…. hey, work experience was a big thing back then! I wandered down to Daimaru for lunch, ordered a falafel because it seemed like the sophisticated and grown up thing to do (but really having no idea what it was!) and boy oh boy, my life changed for the better from that moment on! I can’t say that my work experience changed my life, but that falafel did! Since, then I have been totally and utterly in love with them.

Healthy Falafel Burgers

Funnily enough, after so many years of eating falafels, it was only on a holiday to the NSW coast earlier this year that I found the best falafel I have ever eaten. If you are ever in Huskisson, make sure you visit Supply Cafe and get one of their falafel wraps… I guarantee your life will change for the better too. Since we got back I have been trying to recreate the falafel myself and I think I have finally got pretty close! It tastes amazing with a quinoa tabbouleh, so keep an eye out for that recipe coming up soon.

Healthy Falafel Burgers

A lot has changed since that work experience when I was only 16, but one thing that hasn’t is my love for a yummy falafel! Hope you like this yummy recipe.

Hey Lucy, they look great. I’ve been wanting to make falafels for ages but haven’t really liked the look of oven baked ones, but your’s look so good I will have to try them when I get some fresh herbs. Could you clarify something though…in step 2 you say “except for the baking powder”, but there’s no baking powder in the ingredient list and you don’t mention where to use it later in the recipe. Cheers ๐Ÿ™‚

These look great! Such a coincidence, we made baked chickpea burgers on the weekend to use up some leftover veggies and couscous. Will be trying these next!
