A few years ago now (… where on earth has that time gone!!??), I shared my Super Easy Peppermint Slice recipe. Ever since, it’s been one of the most popular recipes on my website (and trust me when I say ‘super easy’… it really, really is!). Anyway, I posted a link to the recipe on Facebook and a lady wrote back saying that she loved the original recipe but had made her own version with Caramello chocolate and Maltesers. Seriously. The. Best. Idea. Ever.

Just like the original, this slice is completely no-bake and takes just 10 minutes to whip up (even quicker if you run around like a madwoman in the kitchen).  You simply crush the biscuits, then melt the cocoa powder, condensed milk, butter and chocolate. Mix them all together and stir though the Maltesers. Spread the mixture into a slice tin and coat with melted chocolate and extra Maltesers. Seriously, it doesn’t get any easier than that!!

Course Chocolate, no bake, Slices

Prep Time 10 minutes
Total Time 10 minutes
Servings 16 pieces

Ingredients

  • 250 g packet chocolate ripple biscuits (or any plain chocolate biscuit)
  • 2 tbs cocoa powder
  • 300 g condensed milk (see notes)
  • 100 g butter, chopped
  • 200 g block Cadbury Caramello chocolate
  • 150 g Maltesers
  • 200 g milk chocolate
  • extra Maltesers to decorate, optional

Instructions

  1. Grease and line a 18X28cm rectangular slice tin with baking paper and set aside.

  2. Crush the biscuits in a food processor (it's fine for there to still be a few bigger chunks) and set aside in a bowl.

  3. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the cocoa powder, condensed milk, butter and Caramello chocolate on 50% power in 30 second bursts until just melted (stir every 30 seconds).

  4. Pour warm chocolate mixture onto the biscuits and mix well.

  5. Allow the mixture to cool slightly and then stir through the Maltesers.

  6. Press the mixture into the prepared tin (it will be very thick and sticky).

  7. Melt the milk chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl on 50% power until just melted (stirring every 30 seconds).

  8. Pour the chocolate over the top of the slice and place into the fridge to set (optionally decorate with extra Maltesers).

  9. Allow the slice to come to room temperature before cutting into slices (see notes).

Recipe Notes

The recipe uses approximately 3/4 of a 395g tin of condensed milk - if your mixture is a little too dry, add a small amount more. Allowing the slice to come to room temperature before cutting will help to prevent the chocolate from cracking.
