I can’t believe that this week marks the start of December! Is it just me or has this year totally flown by? As much as I’m a bit freaked out by how soon Christmas is, I really do love this time of year.
I think that it’s one of the best times to be a primary school teacher because everyday you are surrounded by around 25 kids who are ridiculously excited that Santa is coming! And it’s a lot of fun to be able to do Christmas craft and cooking with them too of course. Mind you, it’s also a bit of a sad time of year as a teacher, because you have to say goodbye to all of the beautiful little kids that you have worked your ass off with all year and have become so attached to.
Anyway, after a slow start this year I have finally got my bum into gear with getting organised for Christmas! Last weekend I started and finished our Christmas shopping… I was a woman on a mission! And being the Pinterest addict I am, I have started crazily pinning cool Christmas stuff to my Christmas Food Ideas and Christmas Craft For Kids boards. Check them out here and here if you are interested!
We are actually going to be away for Christmas this year so it’s all going to be a little different. We are heading up to Queensland to have Christmas with our family and I can’t wait to have a couple of weeks relaxing on the beach. It’s also my nephews fifth birthday on New Years Eve so it will be pretty special to spend that with him too (the little fella starts school next year!). Christmas Day will also be very different… none of the usual running around having breakfast here, lunch there and dinner somewhere else. Nope, I’m hoping it will just be fun at the beach, a BBQ on the Weber and two very excited little boys opening their presents!
Oh and I am also very, very excited because today I discovered what I am getting from my lovely hubby for Christmas! A Thermomix!!!! I have been dreaming about buying one for ages and he did try to surprise me… however, it’s a bit difficult when we share a credit card (oops I should probably be pretending that I didn’t see it!). He has seriously outdone himself this year… don’t worry I know that I’m a very lucky, spoilt girl. I would have been happy with nothing, but this is just totally amazing! I can’t wait to start having a play with it over the holidays and would love to hear about your favourite Thermomix recipes too.
And so we enter the crazy-busy, fun and exciting time of December and Christmas! How are your Christmas preparations going? Are you super organised or running around like a headless chook?
