If you haven’t ever heard of a place called Manyana, then join the club! I’d never heard of it until this week either. Well it turns out that Manyana is a teeny weeny town (not actually sure if you could call it a town as there are absolutely no shops here) on the southern NSW coast. It borders a national park as well as the beach and is absolutely stunning. You are kinda forced to relax here because the closest town (with a few shops) is 25 minutes away!
It took us about 10 hours to drive here the other day, so it turned out to be quite the road trip! We left ridiculously early in the morning, which meant that we just HAD to stop at Maccas a few hours later for breaky! Clearly, it would have been unAustralian not to. The drive wasn’t actually too bad… Amazing scenery, the iPod set to shuffle and heaps and heaps of snacks made the trip bearable… Fun even!
When we arrived in Manyana we saw four kangaroos literally just around the corner from the house we are staying in. They were just standing around!! Talk about being in the wilderness.
Yesterday our day started off pretty slowly as massive winds caused a blackout. The house we are staying at is on stilts and I swear I thought we were going to blow away! After the windy madness, we went for a drive to Jervis Bay and Huskisson. I had the best ever felafel wrap in Huskisson… There is a fair chance I’ll be returning for another one over the next few days. Who doesn’t love a good felafel?
We also checked out Hyam’s Beach which supposedly has the whitest sand in Australia. I have absolutely no idea if this is true, but the sand really was very, very white! If you follow Bake Play Smile on Instagram then you can judge the whiteness of the sand for yourself!
This has been such a relaxing break! At home I never, ever feel like I have time to read a book, wander aimlessly along the beach or watch mid-afternoon tv, so I am loving it! I can definitely see why people escape to the middle of nowhere to relax… And if this isn’t the middle of nowhere, then I don’t know where is!
